Statement from Governor Quinn on the Passing of Bishop Arthur M. Brazier

CHICAGO – October 22, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today issued a statement regarding the passing of Bishop Arthur M. Brazier. Bishop Brazier was a prominent civic leader, civil rights crusader and the retired pastor of Chicago's Apostolic Church of God.

“Bishop Arthur M. Brazier was a good friend and he will be missed greatly. I have had the honor of knowing Bishop Brazier for a long time and can attest to his tireless devotion to his congregation and the community as a whole.

“Bishop Brazier was an agent of change who never wavered from his mission of confronting the larger issues that faced the community. His passing is a great loss to the people of Illinois.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."
