Hunting Season Schedule Announced for Marseilles State Fish and Wildlife Area

Marseilles, IL - The Illinois Department of Natural Resources today announced the schedule for the 2010-11 hunting seasons at the Marseilles State Fish and Wildlife Area (SFWA), located in LaSalle County.  The Marseilles SFWA is a 2,500-acre facility used jointly by the Illinois National Guard as a training facility, and hunting programs are timed to accommodate training activities. 

The Marseilles State Fish and Wildlife Area will be open for the 2010-11 hunting seasons on the following days and hours, and in the site's designated hunting areas as listed below:

In October hunting will be allowed Monday through Thursday; Areas A, B, and C will be open with the following exceptions noted below:

Area B, a 300+ acre parcel on the west side of County Highway 30, will only be open to hunting October 19, 20, and 21 and October 27 and 28
(this is due to necessary military training)

October check station hours will be:
 October 4 - October 14; 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
 October 18 - October 28; 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In November the site will be open seven days a week until November 21.  Starting November 22, the site will only be open Wednesday through Sunday.  Areas A, B, and C will be open Monday through Thursday, except Area C will be open the weekend of first Firearm Deer Season (November 19, 20, and 21).

November check station hours will be:
 November 1 - November 30; 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
 (except closed on Thanksgiving Day)

In December the site will be open Wednesday through Sunday.  Areas A, B, and C will be open Monday through Thursday, except Area C will be open during the weekends of Firearm Deer Seasons.

December check station hours will be:
 December 1 - December 31; 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
 (except closed on Christmas Day)

In January the site will be open Wednesday through Sunday, with the last day of hunting being January 13.  Areas A, B, and C will be open Monday through Thursday, except Area C will be open for the first segment of the Late-Winter Antlerless Deer Season and then only on December 31, 2010 and January 2, 2011 at this site.

January check station hours will be:
 January 2 - January 13; 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
 (closed on New Year's Day)

All hunters must be in the check station by the check station closing time - no exceptions.

Tree stands must be removed by the close of hunting on January 13, 2011.
