Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs relocates Bensenville Veterans Service Office to Lombard

Press Release - Monday, June 01, 2009

CHICAGO - Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs (IDVA) Director Dan Grant today announced that the Veteran Service Office formerly located in Bensenville has moved to an Illinois Department of Employment Security building at 837 S. Westmore Meyers Road in Lombard.  The office will continue to assist the Veterans who live in DuPage County in applying for benefits from both the state and federal governments. IDVA also has a second location in DuPage County located in Wheaton at 421 County Farm Road in the DuPage Government Complex.

"The Veteran Service Offices are great resources for our Veterans to receive one-on-one assistance and to learn about what state and federal benefits are available to them," said Director Grant. "We want to make sure our service men and women know about the benefits they are entitled to when they return home to Illinois."

The office in Lombard will house one of the state's 74 Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) daily.  The VSOs offer help to Veterans in applying for the receiving compensation and other benefits from the federal Veterans' Administration and make them aware of the state resources that are available.  Their primary job responsibility is assisting in applying for the millions of dollars in federal money that goes unclaimed each year by the 23.8 million Veterans across the country, and serve as a liaison between the state and federal VA.

Veterans can receive assistance at the Lombard office by stopping by from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or calling 630-495-6196.  A full list of Veteran Service Offices can be found on the IDVA website at www.veterans.illinois.gov.
