Rockford's Dan Arnold appointed Trustee of Illinois Historic Preservation Agency
SPRINGFIELD - Rockford resident Daniel J. Arnold has been appointed by Governor Rod R. Blagojevich to the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (IHPA). Arnold's appointment was approved by the Illinois Senate on November 12.
The position is unpaid and only receives reimbursement for IHPA related expenses. Arnold's appointment is valid through January 17, 2011. The seven-member Board of Trustees sets overall policy for the IHPA. The IHPA operates the state's historic sites, memorials and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum; administers state and federal historic preservation laws; and helps coordinate history education programs in the state.
"I am honored to receive this appointment and look forward to serving the people of Illinois by protecting and promoting our rich cultural heritage," said Arnold.
Arnold, 51, founded Road Ranger LLC, a retail petroleum company, in Rockford in 1984. He is a 1982 graduate of Northern Illinois University and is an active member of numerous religious, business and historical organizations as well as a former member of the Illinois National Guard.
