Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities Announces New Funding Opportunity

Press Release - Thursday, July 10, 2008

The Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities recently released a new Call for Investment (CFI) entitled Public Awareness Initiative:  Shifting Perception and Beliefs About the Capabilities of People with Developmental Disabilities.

The purpose of this CFI is to identify an entity that will develop and implement a public awareness initiative to educate the general public, people with developmental disabilities, family members, policymakers and appointed/elected officials about the capabilities of people with developmental disabilities and their right to equal opportunity and freedom. We seek to reinforce what we know: that there are more similarities than differences between people with developmental disabilities and those who do not experience disabilities. People with developmental disabilities should be accorded the same rights and opportunities as other citizens. It is our hope that the educational exposure and public awareness activities developed through this initiative will ultimately inspire and energize people to take action to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities in Illinois.

Letters of application for this CFI are due August 7, 2008 and full proposals are due September 23, 2008. For a copy of this CFI, please click here. For questions related to the CFI, please contact Jennifer Harrison at (217) 782-9696 or via e-mail at Jennifer.Harrison@illinois.gov.
