WOUNDED HERO RECEIVES AN EARLY THANKSGIVING DAY SURPRISE - A NEW HOME! Quinn also declared Wednesday, November 22, 2006, to be "SGT Bryan Anderson Day" throughout the Land of Lincoln

Press Release - Wednesday, November 22, 2006

(ROLLING MEADOWS) - Today, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn paid a surprise visit to wounded hero, Army SGT Bryan Anderson of Rolling Meadows, who saw - for the first time - his newly remodeled home.

On October 23, 2005, the then 24-year old Army Spc. Bryan Anderson, was wounded by a roadside bomb while riding in his Humvee in Baghdad, Iraq. That day, Anderson became the fourth American servicemember to lose three limbs in the Iraq war. Anderson also suffered abdominal injuries and a collapsed lung. Recently promoted to Sergeant, Anderson has made an amazing recovery and will soon walk on artificial legs.

"Bryan Anderson risked his life to protect our freedoms," said Quinn.  "We want to thank all of those on the homefront who heard the call to duty to help ease his transition home."

A new addition to the Anderson home for Bryan was constructed and outfitted by the Kennedy Homes Builders and their vendors. The Rolling Meadows Rotary Club and the citizens of Rolling Meadows were also instrumental in creating Bryan's new home.

Fully handicap accessible, Bryan's new one-bedroom wing allows him to live independently - a special gift for any severely wounded soldier.

Quinn was joined by Anderson's family - his parents Jim and Janet Waswo and his twin brother Bob Anderson.
