Caddyshack scores a hole-in-one to help Illinois military families
Chicago— Lt. Governor Pat Quinn and actress Cindy Morgan from the original cast of Caddyshack welcomed entrants in the "25th Anniversary Caddyshack Golf Tournament" benefiting the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund.
Entrants in the "25th Anniversary Caddyshack Golf Tournament" will have the opportunity to bid on celebrity golf partners and exclusive movie memorabilia. The event will take place Friday, July 28, 2006 at Willow Crest Golf Club at the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort in Oak Brook, Illinois.
The "25th Anniversary Caddyshack Golf Tournament's" goal is to raise $250,000 to help support the families of the more than 27,000 National Guard members and reservists from Illinois. Over the past 3 years, Quinn has called on Governors and state lawmakers across the nation to join the nationwide movement to create a Military Family Relief Fund in each state. Currently, Illinois and 24 other states now have a Military Family Relief Fund in place.
"We are grateful to Cindy Morgan and the cast of Caddyshack for their willingness to help the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund and our military families across Illinois," said Quinn.
The Illinois Military Family Relief Fund assists the families of Illinois National Guard members and reservists called to active duty who may be facing financial hardships with expenses such as rent, groceries, or utility bills. The Fund has distributed more than $3.8 million to more than 6,900 Illinois military families.
