Press Release - Monday, October 24, 2005

SPRINGFIELD, IL --  The Vachel Lindsay Association and the Vachel Lindsay Home State Historic Site will present "Publisher in the Parlor," featuring Broadstone Media LLC co-founder and Lindsay researcher Larry Moore, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 29 at the Lindsay Home, 603 South Fifth Street.

Moore will read from his own writings as well as Lindsay's, and will explain how he became interested in researching Lindsay's life and work.  Moore is a participant at the Conference on Illinois History earlier in the week, where he will present "Preaching the Gospel of Higher Vaudeville:  Vachel Lindsay's Poetic Journey from Springfield, Illinois, Across America and Back."  He is co-founder of Broadstone Media LLC, a cultural promotion company established in 2002 and based in Frankfort, Kentucky that has published three books and has a fourth in production.

The event is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be served following the program.  Tours of the historic home will be offered both before and after the performance.

The Vachel Lindsay Home State Historic Site, administered by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (www.Illinois-History.gov), is the birthplace and longtime residence of poet, author and artist Nicholas Vachel Lindsay, 1879 - 1931.  It is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. for free public tours.
