Williamson County and Surrounding Areas Approved for SBA Disaster Declarations

Springfield- The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) announced today that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved a disaster declaration for Williamson County and contiguous counties impacted by severe storms and tornadoes on May 16. This disaster declaration will allow residents, homeowners, and businesses to apply for low-interest loans for damages not covered by insurance.

"We appreciate the hard work and cooperation by Williamson County EMA as it evaluated and documented the damage by this disaster, and for its efforts to help residents recover and rebuild," said IEMA-OHS Acting Director Theodore (Ted) Berger.

This declaration covers Williamson County and the adjacent counties of Franklin, Jackson, Johnson, Pope, Saline, and Union. SBA will have a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) at 500 North Holland St., Marion which opens Monday, June 23 with hours of 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. After Monday, weekday hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until July 2. The DLOC is closed on Sundays and will close permanently on July 3.

Homeowners can apply for up to $500,000 in low-interest loans to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners or renters can apply for up to $100,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property. Businesses and not-for-profits can borrow up to $2 million for physical damages.
