Dana-Thomas House and Springfield Area Arts Council to host Gatsby fundraiser on April 26

Press Release - Monday, March 31, 2025

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and the Springfield Area Arts Council (SAAC) are thrilled to present "An Evening with Gatsby," a literary celebration marking the centennial anniversary of "The Great Gatsby."

This unforgettable event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the historic Dana-Thomas House, a setting as grand and evocative as the Jazz Age. Guests will be transported to the Roaring '20s with live entertainment, engaging arts activities, and exclusive tours of the Dana-Thomas House, designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Guests are encouraged to dress in period-inspired attire and fully immerse themselves in the elegance and intrigue of F. Scott Fitzgerald's iconic novel.

Adding to the experience, the evening will feature hors d'oeuvres and signature drinks straight from the pages of "The Great Gatsby," offering a taste of the lavish lifestyle depicted in the book.

This family-friendly event is a fundraiser to support SAAC programs that foster access to the arts throughout the community and IDNR's preservation and beautification projects at the Dana-Thomas House. Tickets are $100 per person. Availability is limited. Early reservations are encouraged. For more details and to purchase tickets visit the Springfield Area Arts Council's website.

The Dana-Thomas House is located at 301 E. Lawrence Ave, Springfield. The home, built between 1902 and 1904, is perhaps the best-preserved of architect Frank Lloyd Wright's "Prairie Style" homes, with more than 400 pieces of specially made art glass and original furnishings.
