Total nonfarm employment increased +182,600 compared to May 2021. The Leisure-Hospitality +61,100), Professional-Business Services (+36,900), Transportation-Warehousing-Utilities (+20,300), Government (+15,000), Manufacturing (+12,100), and Educational-Health Services (+11,700) sectors had the largest payroll gains over the year. No sectors had employment declines from a year ago.
Total nonfarm employment increased +11,000 compared to May 2021. The Financial Activities (-100) sector had employment declines from a year ago. The Leisure-Hospitality (+2,400), Government (+2,000), Manufacturing (+1,800), and Retail Trade (+1,700) sectors had the largest payroll gains over the year.

Leisure-Hospitality (+3,200), Educational-Health Services (+2,000), Manufacturing (+1,600), and Transportation-Warehousing-Utilities (+1,000) sectors had the largest payroll gains over the year.
