Gov. Pritzker Announces Three Appointments to Illinois Boards and Commissions
Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration:
CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD
Saul Morse will serve on the Capital Development Board.* Morse serves as Counsel at Brown Hay & Stephens, LLP, providing expertise in health, corporate governance, regulatory and not-for-profit law. Prior, he served as the Vice President and General Counsel of the Illinois State Medical Society and as a Managing Partner of Morse, Giganti and Appleton. With nearly fifty years of legal practice, Morse has been recognized as a leader in the field of public law. Morse has also served the State at the Illinois Human Rights Commission, first as a Commissioner and then as Chairman from 1987-1991. He has also served on multiple task forces, including the Governor's Commission on Election Reform, the Governor's Task Force on Research in Nursing Homes, and the Illinois Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan. Morse received a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION AUTHORITY
Garien Gatewood will serve on the Criminal Justice Information Authority.* Gatewood currently serves as Director of the Illinois Justice Project, overseeing the strategic planning, policy initiatives, fundraising and staff development of the organization. Previously, he served as the Director of Policy and Advocacy at the Juvenile Justice Initiative, advocating for legislation focused on the rights of children, detention reform, eliminating youth homelessness, juvenile expungement and reentry. An expert in the field, Gatewood serves on the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center Advisory Board, the National Juvenile Justice Network's Membership Advisory Council and the Board of Director for Restore Justice Illinois. Gatewood received a Bachelor of Arts from Jackson State University, a Master of Public Administration from Belhaven University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi.
STUDENT ASSISTANCE COMMISSION
Kevin Huber will continue to serve as the Chair of the Student Assistance Commission.* Kevin Huber has served on the Illinois Student Assistance Commission since 2011. He has previously worked as the CEO and Executive Director of the Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund. He previously worked as a Senior Manager at KPMG. Huber received his Bachelors in Accounting from the University of Illinois and Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University.
