Gov. Pritzker Announces Three Appointments to Illinois Boards and Commissions
Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration:
ILLINOIS ARTS COUNCIL AGENCY
Shirley R. Madigan will continue to serve as the Chair of the Illinois Arts Council Agency.* Appointed to the IACA in 1976, Madigan has been asked to serve as IACA Chairman by six governors and has traveled extensively throughout Illinois, nationally and internationally in fulfilling this role. She has served on national, regional and statewide boards, including the National Endowment for the Arts Advisory Board on Arts Education, the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, Arts Midwest, After School Matters, Erikson Institute, Lincoln Academy of Illinois, Loyola University of Chicago and the Cultural Advisory Council for the City of Chicago. Madigan has been honored many times for her work on behalf of the arts, education, and public service, including: the Sidney R. Yates Lifetime Achievement Award, Motorola Excellence in Public Service Award, Erikson Institute Spirit of Erikson Award, John G. Shedd Aquarium Outstanding Community Partner Award, Theatre School at DePaul University Leadership Award for Excellence in the Arts, Little City Foundation Spirit of Inukshuk Award, Cook County Commission on Women's Issues Peggy A. Montes Unsung Heroine Award and the National Museum of Mexican Art Sor Juana Lifetime Achievement Award. An advocate of life-long learning, Madigan received a bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University and a master's degree in education from Loyola University. Her ongoing educational pursuits include completion of a master's degree in child law from the Loyola University Law School.
ILLINOIS LIQUOR CONTROL COMMISSION
Cynthia Berg will serve on the Illinois Liquor Control Commission.* Berg has been a licensed nurse for 34 years with Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Cardiac Intensive Care at University of Chicago Health Systems, and most recently as a School Nurse Certified in Individual Health Plans and 504s for District 206. Previously, Berg has undertaken two surgical missions to the countries of Guatemala and Dominican Republic to aid poverty-stricken areas. Berg has served on the Village of Tinley Park Board of Trustees since 2016, and since beginning her tenure sat on the Economic Development and Marketing Committee as Chair. Berg holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lewis University.
UPPER ILLINOIS RIVER VALLEY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
Terry Dee will serve on the Upper Illinois River Valley Authority.* Dee is a partner with the law firm McDermott, Will & Emery, where he is head of the Chicago Litigation Group, Co-Chair of the Firm's Product Liability Practice, and Chair of Pro Bono and Community Service Committee. Prior to joining his firm, Dee was a partner with the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis. Dee is former President of the Chicago Bar Foundation and is a member of the Board of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law. Dee received his law degree from Washington University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Wesleyan University. After law school, Dee clerked for the Honorable Howard F. Sachs, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
