Gov. Pritzker Announces Four Appointments to the Illinois Student Assistance Commission
Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration:
ILLINOIS STUDENT ASSISTANCE COMMISSION
Maureen Amos will serve on the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.* Amos currently serves as the Executive Director of Financial Aid, Scholarship and Student Employment at Northeastern Illinois University, a post she's held for over nine years. She spent the seven prior years as the university's Associate Director of Financial Aid. Previously, Amos held several leadership roles in the Office of Student Financial Aid at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She began her financial aid career after eight years in Student Activities and Athletics at the community college level, where she remains an adjunct professor. She is also an active volunteer in other grassroot organizations including Girls in the Game and the Women's Sports Foundation. Amos is pursuing a Ph.D. from Concordia University and received her master's in integrated professional studies and bachelor's in administration and accountancy from DePaul University.
Darryl Arrington will serve on the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.* Arrington is the Assistant Vice President for the Center for Access and Attainment at DePaul University. In this role, he provides oversight for the university TRIO programs, Enrollment Management and Marketing's college access initiatives and partnerships with Chicago's high schools. Arrington has over 25 years of experience in higher education with student retention programs, project management, grant budget management and developing internal and external strategic partnerships. Arrington received his Master of Science in public service management and Bachelor of Arts in social sciences from DePaul University.
Jonathan Bullock will serve on the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.* Bullock has served as President of Lake Land College in Mattoon for over six years. Prior to joining Lake Land College, Dr. Bullock served as the Vice President for Strategic Advancement at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. A proud Rotarian, he is actively engaged in communities throughout east-central Illinois, serving as a board member for numerous organizations including the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, Coles Together, the East Central Illinois Development Corporation and Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System. An officer in the Illinois Council of Community College Presidents, Bullock has more than 25 years of experience in higher education as a teacher and administrator. He received his Doctor of Philosophy from Marian University, his Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh and his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
Franciene Sabens will serve on the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.* Sabens is a practicing school counselor at Carbondale Community High School. She previously served the same role at Chester Community Unit School District #139. Sabens was named Illinois' 2014 High School Counselor of the Year and the 2016 ASCA SCOY State Representative for Illinois. She co-authored the 2014 Developmental Counseling Model for Illinois Schools and was a contributor for the 2018 Developmental Counseling Model for Illinois Schools. She received her Master of Science in Education and Educational Psychology and her Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
