AMERICAN BUSINESS CLUB OF SPRINGFIELD GIVES BACK TO LOCAL COMMUNITY ON KIDS DAY AT THE ILLINOIS STATE FAIR

Press Release - Saturday, August 10, 2019

SPRINGFIELD, IL - The American Business Club of Springfield (AMBUCS) has been a partner of the Illinois State Fair for many years.  On Kids Day at the Illinois State Fair, the organization once again demonstrated their generosity and dedication to our community.

On Saturday, during a special presentation at the Department of Agriculture tent at the Illinois State Fair, AMBUCS presented several specially-engineered tricycles to children with mobility challenges. AmTrykes are tricycles that are made specially to accommodate children with mobility challenges. These tricycles allow children the ability to live a life without limits by giving them the freedom to ride and play with their friends and peers. AmTryke costs range between $400-$1,500+. The cost depends on factors such as: size, adaptations and attachments (support systems, seats, pedals, etc.), which ensure every rider will be successful, no matter their mobility challenge.

"Building an AmTryke and having the satisfaction of seeing the reaction of the recipients, whether a young child or a Veteran is an amazing feeling," said, Trenton Thompson, American Business Club of Springfield.  The best feeling is getting a call or message that a recipient is ready for a new or bigger AmTryke and hearing the stories of how much they use their AmTryke."

There are several steps involved in qualifying for an Amtryke tricycle, including a doctor's recommendation. Amtryke tricycles have been shown to improve mobility, strength and coordination, as well as improve self-confidence and serve as a great source of exercise.  Once a child outgrows their current Amtryke, they are presented with options to trade in their bike for a larger model.

The American Business Association of Springfield is a non-profit service organization dedicated to making the world an accessible place for those with disabilities.  Since 1954, the group has been raising money for their association by working concessions. The association has also been handling Illinois State Fair gates and admissions since 2004. For more information on Amtryke please visit http://www.ambucs.org/.
