Gov. Pritzker Signs Legislation Reinstating Five-Hour School Day, Supporting Furloughed Workers
Today, Gov. JB Pritzker took the following bill action:
Bill Number: SB 28
Description: Reinstates a minimum of 5 hours of instruction per day in schools, allowing exemptions for students enrolled in dual career, supervised career development experiences and youth apprenticeships. The requirement was repealed last session.

Bill Number: HB 2071
Description: Allows employees to purchase credit for periods of salary reduction, including furlough days. This applies to two Cook County courthouses who experienced a combination of 10 furlough days and salary reductions between December 1, 2017, and November 30, 2018, to pay to switch furlough days into creditable hours for the purposes of pension calculations.
