Gov. Pritzker Tours Quincy Veterans' Home

Press Release - Thursday, March 14, 2019

Quincy, Ill. — Two months after taking office, Gov. Pritzker took his first tour the Quincy Veterans' Home campus and Hammond Hall with the Acting Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Linda Chapa LaVia.

Gov. Pritzker began the tour by participating in a round table with administrators on providing quality care to veterans and keeping them safe. The governor and acting director then were briefed on safety protocols at the new water treatment facility. They also met with residents and staff at two of the campus' homes and thanked them for their service.

"Illinois Veterans' Homes, especially our state's largest here in Quincy, must be safe environments where the brave men and women who served our country can live with dignity," said Gov. JB Pritzker. "My administration is taking action where the state has fallen short in the past and taking a proactive approach to protecting the safety and wellbeing of residents and workers alike, a foundational duty of state government."

During his first week in office, Gov. Pritzker visited the Manteno Veterans' Home and signed an executive order calling for a complete audit of the health, safety, and security process and procedures at the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.
