Illinois Department of Commerce Announces Grant Recipients

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) today announced the recipients of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Public Infrastructure.  Twenty-eight communities across the state will receive federal funds totaling $13.2 million.  These grants will help Illinois' low-income communities undertake much needed public infrastructure projects such as water, sanitary system and sewer enhancements that become the backbone of future growth and economic development.

CDBG recipients:

Alexander County

City of Cairo - $460,000 - Sewer treatment plant/sewer pump station improvements.

Cass County

City of Beardstown - $497,000 - Combined sewer main replacement.

Clark County

City of Casey - $500,000 - Replace water lines.

City of Martinsville - $500,000 - Demolish and replace existing water tower.

Cumberland County

County of Cumberland - $480,000 - Construction of waterlines, hydrants, meters, etc.

Edgar County

Village of Brocton - $500,000 - Replace water mains and appurtenances.

Fayette County

City of Vandalia - $500,000 - Water Main replacement.

Franklin County

City of West Frankfort - $500,000 - Construction of new PVC sanitary sewers.

Fulton County

Village of London Mills - $500,000 - Water System improvements.

Hamilton County

Village of Broughton - $500,000 - Replacement of water lines.

Hancock County

City of Hamilton - $350,000 - Water main replacement.

Hardin County

County of Hardin - $500,000 - Replace water mains and related appurtenances.

Knox County

Village of Williamsfield - $500,000 - Replace water main lines, fire hydrants, valves, etc.

LaSalle County

            Village of Lostant - $500,000 - Replacing water tower and connection of water main.

Lawrence County

City of Lawrenceville - $500,000 - Sewer system upgrades.

County of Lawrence - $422,006 - Waterline replacement.

McDonough County

            City of Macomb - $500,000 - Water system improvements.

               Village of Blandinsville - $500,000 - Storm water drainage system improvements.

Montgomery County

            Village of Schram City - $500,000 - Sanitary Sewer System improvements.

Ogle County

City of Polo - $500,000 - Storm sewer improvements.

Pulaski County

            City of Mound City - $500,000 - Sewer system improvements.

Randolph County

Village of Ellis Grove - $320,000 - Water main extensions.

Richland County

            Claremont Township - $500,000 - Extend water mains and related appurtenances.

Saline County

Village of Carrier Mills - $500,000 - Construction of a stand pipe.

Shelby County

Sigel Township - $500,000 - Install Water mains and related appurtenances.

Village of Findlay - $410,000 - Replace waterlines, hydrants, meters and service lines.

Village of Tower Hill - $290,000 - Water system improvements.

Union County

            Village of Alto Pass - $500,000 - Construct new wastewater treatment plant.

 

The CDBG program was established by the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (Act).  Administered nationally by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), DCEO administers the State of Illinois CDBG - Small Cities Program.  State-administered funds are only available to units of general local government (i.e., cities, villages, townships and counties).  Municipalities must be 50,000 or less in population and must not be located in an urban county that receives entitlement program funds (there are 42 entitlement communities in Illinois that receive their own allocation of CDBG funds).
