CAHOKIA - Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $1.36 million for a construction project in St. Clair County. The investment, funded by the Governor's Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, is part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.
"New infrastructure projects are creating jobs for hardworking men and women throughout Illinois," Governor Quinn said. "This investment in St. Clair County will improve local and state transportation networks, and continue Illinois' road to recovery."
The project will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Illinois Route 157/163 will receive 5.15 miles of pavement and resurfacing from 0.1 mile south of Paris Avenue in Cahokia to I-255 in Alorton for $1,369,431 by Keeley & Sons, Inc. of East St. Louis, the lower of two bidders.
The project is part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
