Governor Quinn Announces $3.4 Million for Construction Projects in Western Illinois

QUINCY - Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $3.4 million for construction projects in Adams, Fulton, Henderson, Pike and Warren Counties. The investments will create jobs and improve the state's infrastructure. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.

"These investments in western Illinois are putting people to work, creating jobs that will help drive the local economy," Governor Quinn said. "They are also helping to repair and maintain Illinois' infrastructure to improve safety and efficiency throughout the region."

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation except where noted.

Adams County

Quincy Bay View Bridge over the Mississippi River in Quincy will receive joint replacement and repairs for $1,393,782 by Halverson Construction Co., Inc. of Springfield, the lowest of six bidders.

The bridge carrying Illinois Route 96 over Rock Creek 2.7 miles north of U.S. 24 will receive deck patching for $89,286 by Laverdiere Construction, Inc. of Macomb, the lower of two bidders.

Fulton County

The exterior walls of the Dickson Mounds Museum will be evaluated for water infiltration and waterproofing and repair work will then be performed. Leander Construction Inc. of Canton was the lowest of three bidders for the work at $199,600. The Illinois Capital Development Board will manage the project.

Pike County

The bridge carrying Illinois Route 106 over Kiser Creek approximately 4 miles southeast of Barry will receive bridge deck patching for $95,534 by Sangamo Construction Company of Springfield, the lowest of three bidders.

Warren and Henderson Counties

Illinois Route 116 will receive patching and edge repairs from east of Media to west of U.S. 67 for $1,627,831 by Laverdiere Construction, Inc. of Macomb, the lower of two bidders.

The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
