Governor Quinn Announces $4.3 Million for Construction Projects in Will and Grundy Counties
JOLIET - Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $4.3 million for construction projects in Will and Grundy Counties. The investments will create jobs and improve the state's infrastructure. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.
"These investments in Will and Grundy Counties are putting people to work, creating jobs that will help drive the local economy," Governor Quinn said. "They are also helping to repair and maintain Illinois' infrastructure to improve safety and efficiency throughout the region."
The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Will County
U.S. 6 will receive resurfacing from 140 feet east of I-55 eastward in Channahon and Troy Township for $654,574 by D Construction of Coal City, the lowest of four bidders.
Illinois Route 53 will receive 1.86 miles of milling and resurfacing from Canton Rd. to Renwick Rd. for $1,135,045 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of four bidders.
Illinois Route 102 will receive 0.56 miles of resurfacing from south of Ryan St. to north of Illinois Route 53 in the City of Wilmington for $464,686 by D Construction of Coal City, the lowest of four bidders.
Division St. will receive resurfacing from the entrance to Prison Farm to Broadway St. in Crest Hill for $254,666 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of five bidders.
Illinois Route 1 will receive 3.91 miles of pavement resurfacing beginning at the Will County Line and continuing to Illinois Route 17 East for $1,187,007 by Gallagher Asphalt Corporation of Thornton, the lower of two bidders.
I-80 will receive guardrail and rumble strip improvements between U.S. 30 and I-294 for $443,379 by Collins & Hermann, Inc. of St. Louis, Mo., the lowest of three bidders.
Grundy County
I-80 will receive delineators and guardrail improvements from the Grundy/Will County line to east of Houbolt Rd. in Minooka and Channahon for $182,617 by GFS Construction, LLC of Libertyville, the lower of two bidders.
The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
