Governor Quinn Announces $1.9 Million for Construction Projects in Kane County
HAMPSHIRE - Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $1.9 million for construction projects in Kane County. The projects are part of Governor Quinn's commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois' economy forward.
"These projects will address critical infrastructure needs in Kane County, improve safety and increase mobility," Governor Quinn said. "The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which benefits the local economy."
The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Gilberts
A bridge carrying French Road over Burlington Creek about nine-tenths of a mile south of Illinois Route 72 will be replaced for $1,486,734 by Copenhaver Construction Inc. of Gilberts, the lowest of six bidders. The work includes approach pavement construction; embankment, shoulder and guardrail work; pavement marking; and landscaping. Federal Surface Transportation Program and local funds are financing the project.
Elgin
A bicycle route will be added to complete the Elgin Bikeway from Kimball Street/Douglas Avenue to Congdon Avenue/Indian Drive. The work includes pavement markings, intersection bumpout modifications, a ten-foot shared-use path, sidewalk removal, sodding and light pole relocation. Brothers Asphalt Paving Inc. of Addison was the lowest of ten bidders at $463,472. Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement program and local funds are financing the project.
