Governor Quinn Announces $3 Million for Construction Projects in Lake and McHenry Counties

GRAYSLAKE - Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $3 million for construction projects in Lake and McHenry Counties. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois' economy forward.

"These projects will make sure our Lake and McHenry County infrastructure is well-maintained to improve safety and longevity," Governor Quinn said. "The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward."

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Lake County

Lake Street from north of Illinois Route 120 to St. Paul Street in Grayslake will be improved for $1,376,976 by J.A. Johnson Paving Company of Arlington Heights, the lowest of five bidders. The work includes widening and resurfacing, new sidewalks and curb and gutter, storm sewer installation, landscaping and traffic signals.

McHenry County

A bridge carrying Franklinville Road over the Kishwaukee River one-third mile north of Illinois Route 176 will be replaced for $1,017,070 by Alliance Contractors, Inc. of Woodstock, the lowest of seven bidders.

A bridge carrying Illinois Route 120 over the Fox River in McHenry will be repaired for $487,975 by Copenhaver Construction, Inc. of Gilberts, the lowest of six bidders.

Dean Street in Woodstock will see some improvements between Kimball Avenue and Prairie Ridge Drive. These include the construction of a sidewalk, detectable warnings, storm sewer and pavement markings. The lowest of five bidders was Triggi Construction, Inc. of West Chicago at $170,449.

The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
