Governor Quinn Announces $3 Million for Construction Projects in Madison and St. Clair County
MADISON - Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $3 million for construction projects in Madison and St. Clair Counties. The projects, managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation, include bridge and road maintenance and road safety upgrades. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois' economy forward.
"These projects will make sure our roads and bridges in the Metro East area are well maintained to improve safety and make it easier to travel around the region," Governor Quinn said. "The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward."
Collinsville and Dupo
Several highway bridges will be cleaned and painted for $611,450 by ERA Valdiva Contractors, Inc. of Chicago, the lowest of six bidders. The bridges carry Illinois Route 3 over I-255 near Dupo, and I-55/70 over Beltline Road in Collinsville.
Edwardsville
West Union Street in Edwardsville will be improved between St. Louis to North Main Street for $654,808 by The Kilian Corporation of Mascoutah, the lowest of four bidders. The work includes almost six-tenths of a mile of milling, resurfacing, curb and gutter replacement, patching, sidewalks and pavement markings.
Work on District Drive from Goshen Road to Governors Parkway in Edwardsville will be completed for $132,866 by Keller Construction, Inc. of Glen Carbon, the lowest of 11 bidders. The work includes sidewalk and curb and gutter construction, traffic signals, pavement markings, signs and seeding.
Highland
The ramp lighting at the I-70 Silver Lake Rest Area will be replaced for $65,680 by Wissehr Electric, Inc. of Belleville, the lowest of five bidders.
Madison
Bissell Street in the City of Madison will be improved from Illinois Route 3 to Klein Avenue. The work includes new pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk and drainage upgrades and pavement markings. Hank's Excavating & Landscaping, Inc. of Belleville was the lowest of five bidders with a quote of $755,234.
Mascoutah and New Baden
Several bridge structures will be cleaned and painted for $579,770 by ERA Valdiva Contractors, Inc. of Chicago, the lowest of seven bidders. The bridges carry County Highway 10 over I-64 near New Baden, I-64 over Silver Creek near Mascoutah, and I-64 over Little Silver Creek near Mascoutah.
Troy
Work on North Main Street from Market to Clay Street in the City of Troy will be completed for $272,377 by The Kilian Corporation of Mascoutah, the lowest of five bidders. The work includes new pavement, sidewalks, crosswalks, drainage structures, and pavement markings.
The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
