Governor Quinn Announces $1.7 Million for Construction Project Near Sycamore

Press Release - Thursday, May 22, 2014

SYCAMORE – Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $1.7 million for a road construction project near Sycamore. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the project is part of Governor Quinn’s commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois’ economy forward.

“This project will reconstruct this well-used intersection at the DeKalb-Kane County line,” Governor Quinn said. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward.”

The intersection of Illinois Route 64 and County Line Road will be reconstructed to provide left turn lanes and make other improvements. Builders Paving, LLC, doing business as Hardin Paving Services of Hillside, was the lowest of five bidders for the work at $1,789,789. The project will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

“Maintaining this high-traffic intersection is an important project for the residents of this area, as well as the businesses who utilize this corridor,” State Senator Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) said. “I would like to thank the Illinois Department of Transportation for making this project a priority.”

The project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
