NAPERVILLE – Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $2.6 million for construction projects in DuPage County. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn’s commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois’ economy forward.
“These projects will improve traffic flow and safety in DuPage County, which benefits everyone,” Governor Quinn said. “The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward.”
The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Work on Naper Boulevard from Gartner Road to Chicago Avenue in Naperville will be completed for $946,037 by James D. Fiala Paving Co., Inc. of Bolingbrook, the lowest of four bidders. The work includes pavement milling, surfacing, curb and gutter, sidewalks and markings.
Park Boulevard in Itasca from Devon Avenue to Thorndale Avenue will be improved for $896,735 by J.A. Johnson Paving Company of Arlington Heights, the lowest of seven bidders. The work includes resurfacing, curb and gutter, work on drainage structures, sidewalks and parkway restoration.
Building demolition and cleanup at three sites along the Elgin O’Hare Expressway in Itasca in DuPage County and Franklin Park in Cook County will be done for $451,167 by Martam Construction, Inc. of Elgin, the lowest of three bidders.
Work on Center Drive in Woodridge will be completed for $347,212 by K-Five Construction Corporation of Lemont, the lowest of six bidders. The work from Woodridge Drive to Janes Avenue includes resurfacing; new sidewalks, curb and gutter; and pavement markings.
“The winter was tough on area roads, and it is important to residents and businesses to keep our transportation infrastructure in good shape,” State Senator Michael Connelly (R-Naperville) said. “An added benefit is the work will be done by area contractors.”
The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
