Governor Quinn Announces $6.3 Million for Construction Projects in Western Illinois
QUINCY – Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $6.3 million for construction projects in Adams, Fulton, Hancock and Schuyler Counties. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn’s commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois’ economy forward.
“These projects will improve traffic flow and safety in western Illinois, which benefits everyone,” Governor Quinn said. “The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward.”
The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Adams County
Sidewalks along Columbus Road from Pine Ridge Drive to Cheshire Boulevard in Quincy will be constructed or reconstructed and widened, and drainage improvements will be made. County Contractors, Inc. of Quincy was the lowest of four bidders for the work at $214,187.
Adams and Hancock Counties
Three bridges over the Mississippi River will be cleaned by All In One Management & Services, Inc. of Springfield for $31,975, the lowest of three bidders. The bridges are U.S. Route 24 eastbound and westbound in Quincy, and U.S. Route 136 in Hamilton.
Adams and Pike Counties
Illinois Route 96 will be widened and resurfaced for about 2.4 miles from just north of the Adams County line to Old Illinois Route 57. Diamond Construction Company of Quincy was the lower of two bidders at $5,033,943.
Fulton County
Various routes in Fulton County will receive surface treatment for $617,585 by Beniach Construction Co., Inc. of Tuscola, the lowest of four bidders.
Illinois Route 78 will be cape sealed from U.S. Route 24 to Oscar Lynn Highway, a distance of 3.2 miles, for $269,065 by Microsurfacing Contractors, LLC of St. Louis, MO, the lower of two bidders.
Schuyler County
A bridge on Illinois Route 103 about 1.3 miles east of U.S. Route 24 will be resurfaced and repaired for $185,582 by Sangamo Construction Company of Springfield, the lowest of five bidders.
The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
