Governor Quinn Announces $18.3 Million for Road Projects in Cook County
CHICAGO - Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $18.3 million for road projects in Cook County, part of his Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program. The projects are part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.
"Our investments will make it safer and more convenient for motorists traveling through Cook County," Governor Quinn said. "The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive the local economy forward."
The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Chicago
Illinois Route 43 from Interstate 55 to 63rd Street in Chicago and Summit will be resurfaced for $1,774,220 by Central Blacktop Co., Inc. of LaGrange, the lowest of four bidders.
The communications hut for the infield area of the Circle Interchange project in Chicago will be installed along with towers, cable and cameras for $706,137 by Meade, Inc. of McCook, the lowest of four bidders.
Landscaping will be done along the Circle Interchange project in Chicago, including tree and stump removal and planting, for $221,009 by McGinty Bros., Inc. of Long Grove, the lowest of three bidders.
Cook County
Light emitting diode (LED) traffic control lights will be installed at various Cook County locations for $926,328 by H & H Electric Co. of Franklin Park, the lowest of five bidders.
Countryside and Hodgkins
The intersection of LaGrange Road, also known as U.S. Routes 12/20/45, and Joliet Road in Countryside and Hodgkins will be reconstructed for $4,227,962 by Central Blacktop Co., Inc. of LaGrange, the lower of two bidders.
Hoffman Estates, Inverness and South Barrington
Illinois Route 62 (Algonquin Road) will be patched and diamond grinding work performed for $2,331,014 by R.W. Dunteman Company of Addison, the lowest of three bidders. The work will take place in Hoffman Estates, Inverness and South Barrington and will run for 3.54 miles from Penny Road to west of Roselle Road.
Indian Head Park
Traffic signals at Joliet and Wolf Roads will be modernized for $337,900 by Lyons Electric Company, Inc. of LaGrange, the lowest of four bidders.
Lyons
Traffic signal modernization and channelization work will be done on Illinois Route 171 (First Avenue) and U.S. Route 34 (Ogden Avenue) in Lyons for $1,610,127 by Hecker and Company, Inc. of Wheeling, the lower of two bidders.
Melrose Park
Cornell Avenue from Armitage to North Avenue in Melrose Park will be reconstructed for $2,769,761 by A. Lamp Concrete Contractors, Inc. of Schaumburg, the lowest of 11 bidders. The work includes pavement reconstruction and new storm sewers, drainage structures, water main, curb and gutter, sidewalk and landscaping.
Merrionette Park
The Village of Merrionette Park will see sidewalk replacement on Kedzie Avenue from Meadow Lane to 118th Street, and 115th Street from west of Troy Drive to east of Whipple Street. Davis Concrete Construction Company of Alsip was the lowest of six bidders at $97,844.
Northbrook
Happ Road from Sunset Ridge Road to the village limits in Northbrook will be resurfaced for $216,068 by Peter Baker & Son Co. of Lake Bluff, the lowest of eight bidders. The work will also involve curb and gutter replacement, drainage structure adjustments, markings and signs.
Olympia Fields
U.S. Route 30 in Olympia Fields will be channelized and traffic signals will be modernized for $1,066,293 by Iroquois Paving Corporation of Watseka, the lowest of five bidders.
Schaumburg
Resurfacing, striping and traffic signal modernization will be done at Illinois Route 62 and Meacham Road in Schaumburg for $921,359 by Plote Construction, Inc. of Hoffman Estates, the lowest of four bidders.
Skokie
The intersection of Church Street and Crawford Avenue will be improved for $974,900 by Chicagoland Paving Contractors, Inc. of Lake Zurich, the lowest of five bidders. The work will include new pavement, curb and gutter, traffic signals and pavement markings.
Summit
Lawndale Avenue from the Des Plaines River to Juliet Road in Summit will be resurfaced for $259,155 by Central Blacktop Co., Inc. of LaGrange, the lowest of six bidders. The work will also involve curb repair, patching, sewer structure adjustments, pavement markings and other items.
The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
