Governor Quinn Welcomes Indian Ambassador Subrahmanyam Jaishankar

CHICAGO – Illinois Governor Pat Quinn welcomed India’s new Ambassador to the United States – Subrahmanyam Jaishankar – to Illinois on February 28. The two leaders met in Governor Quinn’s office, and discussed trade opportunities between Illinois and India.

“On behalf of Illinois’ 200,000 residents of Indian descent, let me extend a warm welcome to Ambassador Jaishankar,” Governor Quinn said. “As the world’s largest democracy and one of its oldest civilizations, India has many lessons to share. It was an honor to meet the new Ambassador, and we had a fruitful and enjoyable dialogue.”
