Governor Quinn Announces $634,000 for Construction Project Near Herscher
HERSCHER – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $634,000 for a bridge replacement project near Herscher, part of his Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s commitment to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.
“Our investment will make travel along Route 115 safer and more efficient,” Governor Quinn said. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy.”
The bridge carrying Illinois Route 115 over the west branch of Horse Creek just west of Herscher will be replaced for $634,686 by Tobey’s Construction & Cartage, Inc. of Herscher, the lower of two bidders. The project will be overseen by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
“The upkeep of Illinois Route 115 is imperative for sustaining itself as a vital means of transportation of goods and services for the area,” State Senator Toi Hutchinson (D-Chicago Heights) said. “Projects like these continue to improve the well-being of our state by rebuilding and repairing our economy and infrastructure.”
The project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
