Governor Quinn Announces $4.1 Million for Construction Project in Lake County
ROUND LAKE – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $4.1 million for a construction project in Round Lake, part of his Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s commitment to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.
“Our investment will greatly improve a key road in Round Lake,” Governor Quinn said. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy.”
The project will be overseen by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The project will complete the improvement of Hart Road in Round Lake from Illinois Route 134 to Cedar Lake Road. The work includes widening and reconstruction, storm sewer installation, curb and gutter, sidewalk, traffic signals, and parkway restoration. Bolder Contractors, Inc. of Deerfield was the lowest of four bidders for the work at $4,152,237.
“The Hart Road improvement is an excellent example of government doing its job – helping the economy, improving traffic flow and addressing safety concerns for students and their parents,” State Senator Melinda Bush (D-Grayslake) said. “Lake County needs projects like this to help address its serious traffic concerns.”
“These improvements to Route 134 in Round Lake will provide for safer roads by addressing existing sewer concerns and fixing sidewalks, as well as replacing traffic lights,” State Senator Terry Link (D-Waukegan) said. “These funds will provide jobs and benefit the economy throughout the community.”
The project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
