Governor Quinn Announces $2.1 Million for Construction Projects in Cook County

CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $2.1 million for construction projects in Cook County. The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

“These construction projects will improve transportation safety and efficiency in Cook County, and also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy,” Governor Quinn said.

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Chicago

A permanent protective shielding will be installed on the underside of two bridges on I-55 over Lake Shore Drive for $191,270 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of eight bidders.

Olympia Fields

Work on 207th Street from Governor’s Highway to Olympian Way will be completed with new sidewalks, lighting, signs and other items for $528,245 by Hook’s Concrete & Construction Co., Inc. of Glenwood, the lowest of 10 bidders.

Schaumburg

Culverts will be replaced at the Cambridge Drive South and Syracuse Lane intersection, and at Cambridge Drive North, including new storm sewers, water main and pavement. Berger Excavating Contractors, Inc. of Wauconda was the lowest of 10 bidders at $1,136,472.

Tinley Park

80th Avenue from 191st Street to the south village limits will be resurfaced and new sidewalks constructed for $278,196 by Gallagher Asphalt Corporation of Thornton, the lowest of five bidders.

These projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
