Governor Quinn Announces $291,000 for Braceville Construction Project

BRACEVILLE – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $291,000 for sidewalk work in the Grundy County community of Braceville. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

“Anyone walking in Braceville will benefit from this project,” Governor Quinn said. “The construction project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”

Sidewalks will be built or replaced, and pedestrian ramps, pavement markings and signs added on various streets in Braceville for $291,058 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of six bidders. The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the project.

“This is a good investment in the infrastructure of Braceville,” State Sen. Toi Hutchinson (D-Chicago Heights) said. “Installing new sidewalks and signs will create jobs, improve public safety and ensure Braceville remains a great place to live.”

This project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
