Governor Quinn Announces $2.1 Million for Construction Projects in Clinton and Washington Counties

BREESE – Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $2.1 million for road construction projects in Clinton and Washington Counties. The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

“These construction projects will improve transportation safety and efficiency in Clinton and Washington Counties,” Governor Quinn said. “They will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”

The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the projects.

County Highway 13 in Washington County from White Church Road to Illinois Route 15 will be resurfaced for a distance of 3.76 miles, and shoulder and pipe culvert work performed, for $1,194,883 by The Kilian Corporation of Mascoutah, the lowest of three bidders.

The intersection improvements at Jamestown Road and Holy Cross Lane in Breese will be completed, including repaving, culvert and storm sewer installation, curb and gutter work, and planting. Keller Construction, Inc. of Glen Carbon was the lowest of six bidders for the work at $488,236.

A bridge carrying Township Road 145 over Elkhorn Creek four miles southeast of Venedy will be replaced for $487,888 by Depew and Owen Builders, Inc. of Centralia, the lowest of three bidders.

These projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
