Governor Quinn Announces $1.2 Million for Construction Project in Sugar Grove
SUGAR GROVE – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $1.2 million for a road construction project in unincorporated Sugar Grove in Kane County. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.
“This construction project will improve a key intersection in the Sugar Grove area,” Governor Quinn said. “Additionally, it will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”
The intersection of Illinois Route 47 and Waubonsee Drive/Old Oaks Road will be reconstructed and left turn lanes and traffic signals added for $1,207,388 by Geneva Construction Company, Inc. of Aurora, the lowest of five bidders. The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the project.
“The Fox Valley continues to be one of the fastest growing areas in the nation, and our transportation infrastructure absolutely must keep pace with our growing communities,” State Rep. Kay Hatcher (R-Yorkville) said. “This needed upgrade and the jobs it provides are all good news for families in Sugar Grove and surrounding areas.”
This project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
