Governor Quinn Announces $418,000 for Construction Projects in Dixon
DIXON – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a total of $418,932 in capital investments for construction projects in Dixon. The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.
“These projects address infrastructure needs in Dixon,” Governor Quinn said. “The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy.”
Sauk Valley Community College will receive parking lot upgrades through one project. The low bidder for the work was Civil Constructors Inc. of Freeport, whose quote of $328,174 was the lowest of three bids submitted. The project will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.
Another project involves pavement patching on Illinois Route 26, also known as Galena Avenue, from Patrick’s Court to Interstate 88. Twin City Construction Company of Sterling was the lowest of three bidders with their quote of $90,758. The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the project.
The contracts were recently awarded following a competitive bidding process and address critical infrastructure need while creating construction jobs.
These projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which is supporting more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
