    Gov. Rauner signs tax credit bill to help property owners affected by July floods

    CHICAGO (Nov. 16, 2017) — Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law a tax credit worth up to $750 for property owners in 18 Illinois counties where flood damages were sustained in July.

    The bill, signed at the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago, creates a natural disaster credit that eligible, affected property owners may apply to their 2017 Illinois income taxes.​

    CARRIER MILLS, IL (Nov. 15, 2017) — A new project will make southern Illinois a destination for off-road riders, Gov. Rauner said while announcing development of a 26-mile off-highway vehicle trail system at Sahara Woods State Fish and Wildlife Area.

    "Demand is growing for off-highway vehicle recreation, and this state-of-the-art facility will give riders from across the Midwest a place to enjoy the outdoors," Rauner said.​

    SPRINGFIELD, IL (Nov. 11, 2017) — Outstanding students representing Illinois’ colleges and universities were honored by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois during the annual Student Laureate Convocation at the Old State Capitol in Springfield.

    GENEVA, IL (Nov. 10) — Gov. Bruce Rauner joined decorated Vietnam War hero Capt. Van C. Stone and other veterans this morning at Geneva Middle School North for a Veterans Day ceremony.

    It was the 21st year that the District 304 school hosted a ceremony to recognize the many sacrifices and courage shown by the veterans of all U.S. Armed Services branches.​

    SPRINGFIELD, IL (Nov. 8, 2017) — Volunteers who have improved their communities in impactful and significant ways were honored at the Governor’s Hometown Awards ceremony at the Old State Capitol.

    Macon County won this year’s Governor’s Cup for creating one of the largest one-day food drives in the nation through the WSOY Community Food Drive project. The event supplied the community food banks for an entire year, and in 2016 the WSOY Community Food Drive raised 1.4 million pounds of food.​
