Governor Quinn Announces $2.4 Million for Construction Projects in DuPage and Kane Counties
AURORA - Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $2.4 million for road construction projects in DuPage and Kane Counties. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois' economy forward.
"These projects will make sure our DuPage and Kane County infrastructure is well-maintained to improve safety and longevity," Governor Quinn said. "The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward."
The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
DuPage County
Commerce Drive in Oak Brook will be improved for $298,765 by K-Five Construction Corporation of Lemont, the lowest of eight bidders. The work includes new sidewalk, curb and gutter, retaining wall, resurfacing, sewer adjustments, patching and pavement marking.
DuPage and Kane County
Traffic signals will be modernized along U.S. Route 34 at Illinois Route 59 in Aurora and Naperville for $827,173 by Home Towne Electric, Inc. of Lake Villa, the lowest of three bidders.
Kane County
Tyler Avenue in St. Charles from south of Illinois Route 64 to Kirk Road will be improved for $751,771 by Geneva Construction Company, Inc. of Aurora, the lowest of five bidders. The work includes surfacing, patching, sidewalks, curb and gutter and pavement markings.
Dugan Road from the north village limits of Sugar Grove to north of U.S. Route 30 will be improved for $531,776 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of five bidders. The work includes resurfacing, patching, shoulder work, pavement marking and landscaping.
The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
