Singing the blues at Carl Sandburg’s home

Sandburg historic site presents blues duo March 29 as Songbag concert series resumes for spring
GALESBURG, Ill. – Get ready to sit back and enjoy an evening of blues and roots music March 29 at the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site with the return of award-winning duo Joe and Vicki Price.
The free event in the Songbag concert series starts at 7 p.m. in the site’s barn.
Joe and Vicki Price have opened for such notables as Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, Pine Top Perkins, Al Green and Iris DeMent. Their albums “A Brand New Place” (2008) and “Rain or Shine” (2009) both made the annual top 100 list in Real Blues Magazine. “Rain or Shine” also won “best blues album” from the Independent Music Awards in 2010.
Before the prices hit the stage, Richard Wagle of Cleveland, Ohio, will read from “Rootabaga Stories,” Sandburg’s collection of children’s tales. Refreshments will also be served.
The event is co-sponsored by the Carl Sandburg Historic Site Association. A $3 donation is suggested.
Next up in the Songbag series:
