In April 2017,
Governor Bruce Rauner designated Joe Beyer as Acting Director of the Illinois
Department of Labor (IDOL). Joe has served in numerous roles in both the public
and private sectors over the past 10 years.
From 2015 to 2017, Joe
was a member of the Governor’s policy and operations teams. During this time,
he worked closely with a number of State agencies, including Central Management
Services, Veterans Affairs, Historic Preservation, and the Abraham Lincoln
Presidential Library and Museum. He also played an extensive role in
large-scale projects such as comprehensive procurement reform and the
disposition of the James R. Thompson Center.
From 2007 to 2010, Joe
spent three years at Aon Hewitt (formerly Hewitt Associates) as an actuarial
associate, providing pension consulting services to clients. During graduate
school, he completed internships at Deutsche Bank, William Blair, and the
Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
A native of Chatham,
Illinois, Joe received a B.S. in Actuarial Science from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and an MBA from
Harvard Business School. He currently lives with his family in Chicago.
