Information for Service Providers

IDHHC’s mission is to collaborate with public entities, state or government agencies and service providers to advance effective communication access for all individuals with hearing loss in Illinois. IDHHC is available to provide technical assistance to identify communication barriers, training on hearing loss awareness or general information. Please contact IDHHC if you are in need of any assistance at dhh.webmaster@illinois.gov.

The Americans with Disability Act (ADA) protects individuals with disabilities from discrimination by ensuring equal access and opportunities are provided. For example, individuals with hearing loss must have access to effective communication. This means whatever is written or spoken must be as clear and understandable to people with disabilities. This often requires the use of auxiliary aids and services. Business can take advantage of Federal tax incentives when providing auxiliary aids and services.

IDHHC will continue to develop new resources. Feel free to send ideas for future resources to dhh.contactus@illinois.gov.

Please be sure to check the other pages on IDHHC website for additional information.
