Re: Update Regarding Fabrication of Participant Eyeglasses
The purpose of this notice is to inform enrolled providers regarding interim
changes to the fabrication of eyeglasses for
participants covered under the Department’s fee-for-service program. This
information does not apply to orders for participants covered under HealthChoice Illinois managed care plans or the Medicare/Medicaid Alignment
Initiative (MMAI) plans.
Due to COVID-19 mitigation strategies at Dixon
Correctional Facility, the production of participant eyeglasses has been severely
impacted during the public health emergency as reported in the September 25, 2020 provider notice. As of February 2021, Classic Optical has
partnered with the Department and begun manufacturing eyeglasses for eligible fee-for-service
Medicaid participants to address outstanding orders and reduce the current
backlog resulting from administrative lockdowns at Dixon.
For questions regarding order status please
contact Classic Optical at 888-522-2020. Classic Optical will respond to Illinois
Medicaid providers regarding their inquiries and they request patience as they
work to remedy the backlog of participant orders.
The process of ordering eyeglasses for Medicaid participants
remains unchanged.
Questions regarding this
notice may be directed to the Bureau of Professional and Ancillary Services at
877-782-5565, option 3, then option 4.
