Re: Fiscal Year 2020 Expansion to Illinois DocAssist
The purpose of this notice is to inform providers of an expansion to the services offered by the Illinois DocAssist program. The Illinois DocAssist program currently provides free pediatric and perinatal psychiatric phone consultation to primary care providers (PCPs) and mid-level mental health providers caring for Medicaid-enrolled youth (ages 0-21) and perinatal women’s psychiatric and substance use needs.
Illinois DocAssist recognizes the vital need to provide psychiatric consultation in support of practitioners treating pregnant patients. Effective July 1, 2019, Illinois DocAssist will enhance its support to expectant and post-partum mothers through the introduction of consultation services related to the delivery of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) during the perinatal period. Opioid agonist pharmacotherapy, also known as MAT, along with counseling, continues to be the recommended therapy for pregnant women with an opioid use disorder.
In addition, Illinois DocAssist is announcing enhanced support for Substance Use Disorder treatment through the delivery of four face-to-face trainings for providers serving HFS-enrolled participants that will be held in central/southern Illinois in state fiscal year 2020. These trainings will specifically cover MAT. Information on the trainings can be found on the Illinois DocAssist website.
The Illinois DocAssist consultation service is available at no cost to providers serving HFS enrolled participants. Illinois DocAssist is available Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except holidays, and can be reached toll-free at 1-866-986-ASST (2778).
