||Training on New ABE Partner Portal Functionality Report the Birth of a Newborn and Provider Requirements|
This is a notice to HFS Hospital Providers of an informational Webinar reviewing new functionality in the Application for Benefits Eligibility (ABE) Partner Portal. This new functionality will allow hospital staff to report the birth of a newborn when the Mother is a Medicaid recipient.
Hospitals with access to the Provider Portal will soon be able to submit the record of the newborn’s birth electronically. The Integrated Eligibility System (IES) will attempt to automatically add the newborn to the mother’s case. If the newborn cannot be added automatically, a task will be created for a worker to process the Report of Birth. This will expedite the eligibility processing for newborns and allow for greater continuity of care.
All hospital staff, including contract staff, who are responsible for assisting with patient insurance issues should take the training. Accurate entry of the newborn and mother’s information is key to the automation of the addition. In addition, each hospital location will be required to identify one Agency Security Administrator to support the state with administrative and security responsibilities.
Individual staff at your hospital will need to create an account on the ABE site and complete an HFS form prior to using this new ABE Partner Portal functionality. To avoid account creation errors and to be sure staff are completing required paperwork and properly using the functionality, we will offer a few Webinars to review functionality and requirements.
