Provider Rate Reductions Effective July 1, 2012

To:​ Participating Audiologists, Chiropractors, Durable Medical Equipment and Supplies Providers, Home Health Agencies, Hospitals billing fee-for-service, Imaging Centers, Independent Laboratories, Independent Diagnostic Testing Facilities, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Optometrists, Opticians, Optical Companies, Physical Therapists, Podiatrists, Speech Therapists and Transportation Providers​

As a result of Public Act 097-0689(pdf), referred to as the Save Medicaid Access and Resources Together (SMART) Act, the department is required to reduce reimbursement rates paid to certain provider by 2.7%.
 

Effective with dates of service on and after July 1, 2012, the department will reduce reimbursement rates paid to Audiologists, Chiropractors, Durable Medical Equipment and Supplies Providers, Home Health Agencies, Hospitals billing fee-for-service, Imaging Centers, Independent Laboratories, Independent Diagnostic Testing Facilities, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Optometrists, Opticians, Optical Companies, Physical Therapists, Podiatrists, Speech Therapists and Transportation Providers by 2.7%.

There are no changes in the procedures for billing the department. Providers should continue to bill their usual and customary charge for each procedure code.

The rate reductions will be applied prior to any deductions for co-payments or third-party liability (TPL).
