Re: Changes to Safety Training Certification Programs
This notice advises that the Train-the-Trainer format for Safety Training Certification is no longer available. Trainers trained by First Transit or MidAmerica are no longer eligible to train drivers and attendants for certification because those companies are no longer certified safety training providers. However, the individual certifications previously issued via this format by First Transit or MidAmerica are valid through the certificate expiration. Individuals seeking safety training certification must contact one of the following programs certified by the department to conduct safety training:
Classroom training is available at the following Chicago locations: Triton College, River Grove and Wilbur Wright College. Medicarsafety.com Inc. provides alternate classroom availability throughout the greater Chicago area. They also provide, for those who are unable to travel to a fixed classroom location, the option of their trainers traveling to the provider’s location for training services.
Rural Transit Assistance Center at Western Illinois University
Classroom sessions are offered throughout Illinois. Rural Transit Assistance Center trainers will come directly to the provider’s facilities for a fee. Specific details are agreed upon between the trainer and provider.
