Acting Director Janice Glenn

 
Acting Director Janice GlennJanice Glenn was appointed Acting Director of the Illinois Department of Human Rights by Governor Bruce Rauner on July 1, 2016.  In this leadership role, she is responsible for overseeing the agency's primary goals to prohibit discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, marital status, physical or mental handicap, sexual orientation, military service or unfavorable discharge in connection with employment opportunities, housing and real estate transactions, access to financial credit and the availability of public services and public accommodations.  In addition, the Department oversees charges of sexual harassment.  Prior to joining IDHR, in January 2015 she was appointed Director of Diversity and Recruitment for the Office of the Governor, Bruce Rauner, and served as the agency's Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Officer.
 
Previously, she was Director of Programs for Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC), a nonprofit civic leadership organization that creates lifelong partnerships and develops community awareness among leaders in the Chicago metropolitan community.  In this role, she worked with the members of the Leadership Fellows Association within Leadership Greater Chicago, which consists of graduates from the premier signature Fellows Program.  She was responsible for executing the development and implementation of programs, projects and activities designed to enhance relationships among LGC Fellows and with numerous external constituencies.  Prior to joining LGC in 1985, she began her career in Public and Government Affairs at Amoco Corporation.
 
Janice currently serves as the Governor's Designee and Co-chair of the Illinois Commission to End Hunger, Commission on the Elimination of Poverty and the Illinois Human Services Commission.  She also serves as Vice Chair of the Rising Leaders Council for Christ The King Jesuit Preparatory High School in Chicago's Austin community.  For her nearly 30 years of dedicated service at Leadership Greater Chicago, the Board of Directors made her an honorary LGC Fellow.
