Total Retiree Advantage Illinois (TRAIL) Program

The TRAIL Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period for the 2017 plan year will be October 14 - November 16, 2016.  Informational seminars will be held statewide to give eligible retirees and survivors an opportunity to learn about the Total Retiree Advantage Illinois (TRAIL) Program.  Topics will include eligibility criteria and an explanation of the benefits provided through the Program.

The seminars will begin October 11th and will go through October 27th. A list of the 2016 seminars dates, times and locations can be found here. Representatives from the Department of Central Management Services (CMS), the Medicare Advantage plans being offered in the area, and Silver Sneakers will be present to answer your questions.

Retirees and survivors who became eligible for the TRAIL Medicare Advantage Program over the past year (i.e., became eligible for Medicare between October 2, 2015 and October 1, 2016) should have received a letter (printed on yellow paper) in mid-September notifying them of their eligibility and the requirement to enroll or opt out of the coverage during the TRAIL Open Enrollment Period.  All currently enrolled TRAIL members, as well as those newly eligible for the program, will be mailed a TRAIL Open Enrollment kit the first week of October.
