The popular “Abe & Mary: Quite Contrary” walking tour returns for the summer of 2017.
“Abe & Mary: Quite Contrary” is a 1.5 mile, 60-minute tour that will take you on a journey through time as we explore beautiful, historic, downtown Springfield. Along the way, you will hear about the people and places that helped Abraham and Mary's relationship blossom, and on occasion, aspired to wedge them apart.
Tours will run every Tuesday, June through August, at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Tours are free; however, reservations are required. Reservations can be made at PresidentLincoln.Illinois.gov or at the Information Desk the day of the tour. Tours are limited to 15 guests.
The tour will start at the information desk inside the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and end at the First Presbyterian Church (6th and Capitol).
Museum admission is not required. However, it is suggested Journey I in the museum is experienced prior to the tour. Journey I will bring familiarity of Lincoln’s journey to the White House via Kentucky, Indiana, and New Salem, along with his time in Springfield.
The ALPLM is not responsible for any loss, damage or injury during this tour. The tour will involve walking 1.5 miles on uneven streets and roads.
