November 1 through November 19 

Bryant Cottage - Bement, IL

The Bryant Cottage State Historic Site will honor Illinoisans who fought at the Battle of Gettysburg with a display of 140 small flags.


Opening of “On Hallowed Ground” display. Thousands of flags will be placed on the grounds to represent each soldier buried at Gettysburg. Visitors will be able to adorn the flags with ribbons representing their own loved ones in the military.

Saturday, November 16 

Remembrance Day ceremony to honor soldiers killed in Battle of Gettysburg

Lincoln Log Cabin - Lerna, IL​

Living history activities, including 2 p.m. recitation of Gettysburg Address and performance by Civil War band. 


Tuesday, November 19

Old State Capitol - Springfield, IL

10am - Recitation of Gettysburg Address by five students from​ Springfield’s Japanese sister city, Ashikaga.​
